Electricity Supply

The ability to tie into the regional transmission grid and the ability (“resilience”) of that grid to physically support the power demand of the Project are both critical to the Project’s success.

Neither electricity interconnection nor grid resilience are anticipated to be issues within southern Alberta as the regional electrical transmission system is already very well developed. Supply certainty is further improved by the fact that most Project customers will already have their own well-developed interconnection with the grid.

Electricity Costs

The ability to purchase adequate supplies of renewable electricity at acceptable prices is also critical to the success of the Project.

IEPS has developed an electricity acquisition strategy that will allow our customers to easily accomplish that goal, taking advantage of Alberta’s competitive electricity market, substantive supply of renewable power and the operational flexibility of electrolyzers.
