By building several distributed LCI hydrogen production facilities, as opposed to a single central plant, IEPS is able to substantively reduce the cost and other issues associated with the long-distance transportation of hydrogen.
Because each customer will be relatively close to a plant site, the physical delivery of hydrogen can also be accomplished more easily and safely. Delivery options include direct interconnection by short, dedicated pipeline to larger customers; short-haul trucking of compressed hydrogen, (ideally using hydrogen fueled trucks), directly to other customers; or alternatively, interconnection with a bulk hydrogen fueling system located beside an existing transportation corridor or at a natural hub.
